Walking across the deck you can enter the master bedroom which has been newly whitewashed (not an incredibly fun job) and painted. The paint is called White fog and is a light grey with a hint of blue. I am going for the beach house whitewashed look in there ergo the lamp has got to go...but all in good time...all in good time....
As you walk out the master bedroom into the hallway you can go up the stairs into the loft. This has also been whitewashed and I am still in the process of painting it Baked Brie. I was hoping that Baked Brie would have been a more earthy, browny white but alas it is just another shade of white so I must accesorize to make this space interesting. Matt has a giant world map it is about 5x8 feet I would say, that I am going to frame and put up on one of the walls in the loft. That is about as far as I have gone in the decorating department here. I still haven't decided what I want to do with the rails, I didn't want to paint them white because they will be man-handled a lot and eventually get grungy so if anyone out there in cyberland can give me some ideas I would greatly appreciate it.
Down from the loft is the den/laundry room. This too will be painted Baked Brie. You will also notice the huge hole that we cut into the side of the kitched to open up into the den. This is our new breakfast bar! I am completely in love with the opening and it really opens up the kitchen to the rest of the house.
From the kitchen we walk into the dining room. This area still needs a little work. You can see Sally working on the windows that look out onto the porch, and we still need to frame in the back wall. The white cabinets will be installed into the wall and are going to be for table linens and we are going to build a bookshelf above it for all my cookbooks and knick-knacks. Next to the bookshelf will be a closet but the door is going to be on the other side so that we are not opening out into the dining table. This area is still a mess because we are using it as the kitchen cabinet install staging area but soon it will all be beautiful.
From the dining room you can see my lavendar colored bathroom. I love the color...I hate the sink, I have my eye on a vanity at Ikea, but I am going to have a save up some extra cash if I want to get it...all in good time...all in good time I have to keep telling myself. What you can't see in this picture is that the tub/shower has no tile...I think that should be my first priority over a new vanity.Last stop on our tour is the guest bedroom. This room I still have no idea how I want to decorate this, so I just painted it with a leftover paint from another project and I will re-visit it when I have some inspiration. This room has drastically improved from it's humble beginings though so I thought I would show a before and after
Surprisingly these are the same exact views. We got rid of the old rotting door and installed this 4 foot window instead, took down the wood panelling on the ceiling and put sheetrock up all over, painted and voila! Clean "new" room!
